Training is almost over

Wow I've been in country now a little over 2 months I guess it's not that long but hearing talk of cherry blossoms and the weather "breaking" it's hard to imagin I'm missing spring back home.

Well our training is almost over and I'll be back in Conakry in about 2 weeks for almost a week to be sworn in as a volunteer! It's actually going to be huge. Peace Corps in celebrating its 45th anneversary and it's Peace Corps Guinea's 20th birthday. Anyway swearing in is a huge deal all of the embassy folks are coming all of the Guinean government has been invited and all in all it's going to be about 230 people in the Peace Corps compound for the ceremony. They've painted the whole place it looks so snazzy and super nice so when all of you come visit it's going to be shiny and beautiful.

Ok so you got one pic of me on this blog with my buddies Chris and Murph. I'm trying to up load more and again will try to include the link. Also pics of my site and home for the next 2 years!

By the way I love reading all of the messages you are putting on the blog it's so fun to hear how everyone is doing! Thank you!

Rasa!!! I have been reading everything you write but I haven't posted a response yet. It's about time I did! You look great in this picture...healthy, tan, happy. Looks like Africa is treating you really well. I want more and more pictures! Your stories are absolutely amazing....and 100% Rasa. I'm sad to say I don't have any good stories about skirt dropping or chicken bashing, but that's just because I'm stuck in boring old Boston. Keep on rocking over there girl...I tell everyone about you and your awesome ways!

Love,
Bex

Damn! The Peace Corp is sexy! Are you sure you aren't on the new season of the Real World? Maybe Road Rules Africa? You are going to kick ass in The Guantlet.

Glad to hear everything is going great so far. Spring is overrated so don't even sweat it. Cherry blossoms? Weak if you ask me. Just enjoy your time over there and don't worry about home. It will still be there in a couple of years.

Cheers!

Hi Rasa,
Love the picture. I finally spent some time with your mom catching up and having fun. Enjoyed playing with that smartie dog Wilson. You and Aimee did a great job when you chose him. Happy to hear from MOM that you received my package. Enjoy! Will keep my eyes open for portable protein sources to send along. All is well with Becky in Atlanta and Seth in San Francisco.
Be well,
Hugs,
Mrs H-C

Look how popular you are!!! Not only for making many friends in Africa but also because so many people have commented on your blog!!! It is because we miss you so much and crave all of your crazy stories! Life is not complete without some hilarious commentary from you!!! Speaking of which, I GOT YOUR LETTER TODAY! Then I started crying because I was so excited! I was reading it at the bus stop because I couldn't wait until I got to work. People must have thought I was crazy because I was laughing and crying all at the same time!!! The letter was wonderful and I am writing the response when I get home from work today! I am glad to see and hear that you are doing well! Not every day is going to be amazing (and I know how you feel, on a much smaller scale of course) but without the crappy days inbetween we wouldn't know what blessing the good ones are!!!! You are making me so proud every day and I miss you like crazy!!! MUAH!

Love,
Your little sis

Hi Honey,
I am so sorry I wasn't able to call you while you were in Labe. I kept getting a funny busy signal. I tried hundreds of times at different times of the day and now you are in Doune and out of contact completly. I am so sad and wonder when I will speak to you again. I hope you'll get to Mamau and be able to email me soon. All is well on the home front. I keep writing you letters and hope you'll get them some day. I heard about your ipod and I am reluctant to send one in the mail because you don't seem to be getting my mail. I could send it with Andrea's friend MJ who is coming in July but I don't know if you are posted near Andrea. My plans to come in September are proceeding. It looks like we will be in Guinea from Sept. 14 - 24 ish. I will email you our itinerary when we are decided for sure. I am in Boston with my friend Stephanie and Russell and baby Gabriel and somehow holding and playing with the baby makes me feel less lonesome for my big girl.
Hugs to you.
