Semester at Sea!

Ok, ok, ok, ok, ok….this is long over due. But I’m on the Ship!!!!!!! I feel at home, really, even though I’ve never been on this particular ship before. Semester at Sea has purchased this ship since the last one and I honestly don’t know what they did to the old ship….kinda sad to think about it…I loved that ship. But this one is fancy…really fancy.
Before I go one perhaps you would like to re-read some of my Guinea entries and be reminded I was still there less then 9 months ago. Currently, I have a cabin steward, Andrew, who makes my bed everyday, organized my bathroom and bedroom things if I have forgotten to put them back just so and he’s always smiling. I have 3 meals a day that is cooked fresh and I don’t have to eat rice if I don’t want to. I have a gym, pool, bar, multiple decks for lounging about, a lounge indoors just for faculty and staff….and…..drum roll….a spa…not a whirlpool but a hair, nail, massage and facial-type spa. Peace Corps…whatever.
I’d like to take this time to give a shout out to all my Guinea friends still in Africa.
So things on the ship couldn’t be better. I LOVE the staff and faculty here they are a blast and a surprising number of twentysomethings….love it. We’re having such a good time getting to know each other and the students have only been here 2 days and they are just as great!!!
I keep super, super busy b/c if you can imagine there are about 100 people on faculty and staff I support whom are servicing 350 students and adult voyagers. I am the only admin assistant on the ship a title which includes, paper Nazi, supplies guru, info hub and anything else you can imagine people need or want.
The great part of my job is I don’t have one when we are in port. I love this job…you think I could do it year round???? I’m not sure SAS would let me.
Cheers,
Rasa

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss you! Everything sounds so exciting though. I wish I could be there to see it in person. Seriously find out if they need a biologist or something. And some type of media job for Brian. Or maybe the three of us should start some sort of cruise company ourselves. That is a fantastic idea!
